Following a competitive procurement process, Skyline will replace and modernize the Florida ITS Operations Network (FION), the statewide fiber backbone supporting FDOT’s ITS. The upgrade will significantly enhance the FDOT’s distribution of live video and data across 3,000 miles of fiber infrastructure connecting seven FDOT districts plus Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, and other local facilities that FDOT monitors, supporting thousands of traffic cameras, dynamic message signs, and other ITS devices across Florida’s highway network.
“This partnership reinforces Skyline’s position as a leader in mission-critical transportation infrastructure,” said Mia Millette, Chief Executive Officer. “Our proven track record in designing resilient, secure networks, combined with our deep understanding of DOT operational requirements, enables us to deliver solutions that anticipate tomorrow’s challenges. Florida’s travelers will benefit from the increased redundancy and capacity of this modernized infrastructure, which allows more information to be provided to the public and delivered more quickly than previously possible.”
“We are proud to bring our expertise in large-scale transportation networks and public safety systems to a program that directly improves the daily lives of Florida’s residents and travelers. Our focus is on building systems that serve—securely, reliably, and with purpose.”
Skyline will provide comprehensive network engineering, integration, and operational support to strengthen the resiliency, scalability, and interoperability of FDOT’s statewide ITS infrastructure. The modernized network will enhance real-time video sharing and data accessibility by expanding capacity and strengthening resiliency through redundant pathways, helping ensure continued operation during natural disasters or accidental disruptions.
This engagement expands Skyline’s national transportation portfolio, which includes projects supporting 21 Departments of Transportation across the U.S., reflecting the company’s mission to build a more resilient and connected society through purposeful innovation and trusted partnerships.
